Toby Don Turpen
October 26, 1958 - September 5, 2019

Funeral Arrangements for Toby Turpen, 60, a life-long resident of Hereford, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2019 at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Ken R. Varner, pastor of Westway Baptist Church, officiating. Visitations will be held Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Turpen passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019.

Toby Don Turpen was born October 26, 1958 in Hereford, to Blueford and Lois (Rettman) Turpen. He attended schools in Hereford and graduated from Hereford High School 1977, where he was a member of the Mighty Maroon Marching Band. He worked for BJM for several years then owned and operated ChemTex Construction and ChemTex Spraying. Toby was very active in 4-H as a shooting sports coach. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, he loved to fish, was a motorcycle enthusiast, and was an extraordinary story teller. Toby was an active member of Hereford Masonic Lodge 849 were he had served in all capacities of the Lodge. He was a DPS certified hand-gun instructor. Toby never met a stranger.

Toby met and fell in love with Jean Sherman and they later married July 23, 1995 in Hereford.

The legacy Toby leaves are his wife of twenty-four years Jean of Hereford, 3 sons, Eric Turpen and wife Rachel of Littlefield, Brian Turpen and wife Stacy of Lubbock, and Brad Turpen of Hereford, one daughter Emily Turpen of Hereford, 3 grandchildren, Jacob Turpen, Lauren Turpen and Barrett Turpen, and 2 nieces, Shayla Clift and Skyla Williams.

Proceeded in death by his parents Blueford and Lois Turpen and one sister Jana Clift.
